MenÕs Golf Club Tournament Rules

1.     Signing up for a Tournament

a)     A member may sign himself and a guest up two different ways. A sign up sheet is passed around at the monthly dinner meeting prior to the next monthÕs tournament, or you can send an email to the Golf Chairman letting him know you want to play. All tournaments have a maximum number of golfers aloud to play, so each tournament will be done on a first come first served basis. A friendly reminder will also be emailed out to each member to remind them of each upcoming tournament.

b)    A member can sign up for any tournament for that calendar year at any time he chooses. Example: If in May you know you want or you and a guest want to play the tournament in July you can sign up for it, or you can also sign up for all the tournaments for that calendar year by sending the Golf Chairman an email letting him know that you would like to be automatically signed up for all the tournaments and that you will let him know if and when you canÕt make a tournament.

c)     When you sign yourself, a guest or even another member up for a tournament you are responsible for those green fees. You may cancel all your spots at any time up to two and a half weeks prior to the tournament and you will not be held responsible for the green fees. If you need to cancel during the last two weeks prior to the tournament you either need to find another member or members to take your spots or pay the green fees for the spots that you signed up for. If you think you shouldnÕt be held responsible for these fees you must bring all arguments to the Golf Chairman and Handicap Chairman. They will hear all arguments and then make a decision. Once they have made their decision it is final.

d)    All players should show up to the golf tournament at least one hour prior to their tee times. Once you have arrived look for the Golf Chairman and pay your green fees. Please do not go to the driving range or putting green prior to paying your green fees. The Golf Chairman will usually be set up at a table in the restaurant or bar area of the course.

e)     Each tournament will have two flights a first and second flight. The flights will be determined at the beginning of each year. The flights are based on each playerÕs handicap. A prize will be awarded to the winner of each flight. The prizes will be handed out at the end of each tournament at the golf course.

2.     The Club Championship

a)     All members must play at least six club tournaments to be eligible for the Flight Championship. The six tournament played can be the Flight Championship. We play eleven tournaments a year if for some reason we play less than that the number of tournaments; you will only need five tournaments played to qualify.

b)    The first tournament that will be played in October will be the Flight Championship. Where players from each flight will compete within their own flights for an eventual winner. The winner of each of the two flights then will play together in the final tournament of the year and the winner will be the Club Champion for that year.

c)     The Club Champion will get his name put on the perennial club championship trophy which he gets to keep for one year. After one year he will relinquish it to the new Club Champion and he in turn will receive another trophy that he can keep. The winner of each flight will also get a trophy.

3.     The Overnighter Championship

a)     The overnighter champion will be decided by adding together his two day net totals. If there is a tie the players will be taken out to the putting green and will have a putt off to decide the winner. The overnighter champion will receive a very nice crystal trophy.
