SCS "Zero-Tolerance" Policy
Regarding score postings

Our Zero Tolerance Policy states ÒEffective on February
15, 2003, The Handicap Committee will begin frequent audits of score posting
by members of the San Carlos Squires Golf Club. Any player found to be in violation of one of the following
items will be penalized as indicated below: a. Failure to post an acceptable
score as soon as practicable after completion of a round or waiting
until after the new handicap is calculated for the following month
before posting previous months scores; b. Posting erroneous scores; c. Stopping play after 6 holes to
avoid posting scores If a player only completes 6 holes no
posting is required. Completing 7 to 12 holes requires posting a 9 hole
score and completing 12 or more holds requires posting an 18 hole
score. Use Equitable Stroke Control when posting; d. Repeatedly playing more than
one ball to avoid posting scores; e. Not adjusting hole
scores under Section 4 f. Not adjusting hole
scores under USGA Equitable Stroke Control Rules; Handicap

fewer strokes to actually scored; h. Deliberately taking
extra strokes to inflate a score; i. Deliberately
playing multiple tees during a round to avoid posting an accurate
score; For the first offence we will kindly reminder you that you
forgot to post your score For the second violation with previous Handicap Committee
knowledge of repeated violations: 1. A letter will be sent to the
member informing them that in the interest of fair play, the Handicap
Committee will be adjusting your scores or handicap related to the member
violation after the following months Board meeting. Before the
adjustment becomes effective the member may appeal the Handicap Committee
decision either by letter or in person by the next board meeting. 2. If a score is not properly
posted the Handicap Chairman will post a round of 69 plus 50% of the players
handicap or 4 strokes less than the players Squires handicap, whichever is
the greater penalty. An additional penalty score of equal value will be
posted and remain on the players record for a period of 6 months. 3. The player will be notified
that they will be on probation for one year For a third violation or the Handicap Committee discovers a
history of repeated violations: 1. A letter will be sent to the
member informing them that in the interest of fair play, the Handicap
Committee will be adjusting your handicap related to the member violation
after the following months Board meeting. Before the adjustment becomes
effective the member may appeal the Handicap Committee decision either by
letter or in person by the next board meeting. 2. The NCGA will be notified and
the memberÕs handicap will be reduced and frozen for the period of one year. 3. The member will be ineligible
to play in club tournaments, including the Tournament of Champions, or NCGA
tournaments for the period of one year. For a fourth violation: 1. The member will be sent
a letter informing them that the NCGA will be notified that due to repeated
violation of the Handicap System, the club will be removing the member from
our roster and will recommend that the NCGA should consider withdrawal of the
memberÕs Handicap Index. |
