San Carlos Squires
MenÕs Golf Club Tournament Rules
1. Signing up for a Tournament
a) A member may sign himself and a guest up two different ways. A sign up sheet is passed around at the monthly dinner meeting prior to the next monthÕs tournament, or you can send an email to the Golf Chairman letting him know you want to play. A friendly reminder will also be emailed out to each member to remind them of each tournament and that it is time to sign up.
b) A member can sign up for any tournament for that calendar year at any time he chooses. Example: If in May you know you want or you and a guest want to play the tournament in July you can sign up for it. You can also sign up for all the tournaments for the year at any time.
c) When you sign yourself, a guest or even another member up for a tournament you are responsible for those green fees. You may cancel all your spots at any time up to two weeks prior to the tournament and you will not be held responsible for the green fees. If you need to cancel during the last two week period prior to the tournament you either need to find another member or members to take your spots or pay the green fees for the spots that you signed up for. If you think you shouldnÕt be held responsible for these fees you must bring all arguments to the Golf Chairman and Handicap Chairman. They will hear all arguments and then make a decision. Once they have made their decision it is final.
d) All players should show up to the golf tournament at least one hour prior to their tee times. Once you have arrived look for the Golf Chairman and pay your green fees. Please do not go to the driving range or putting green prior to paying your green fees. The Golf Chairman will usually be set up at a table in the restaurant or bar area of the course.
e) Each tournament will have two flights and each flight will have a first and second place winner. All winners will receive a prize. Prizes will be handed out at the following monthly dinner. You must show up in person to receive your prize. All prizes that are not picked up that night will only be held for two meetings after that they will be put back into the prize vault. No prizes will be handed out for the Club Championship Tournamen
2. The Club Championship
a) All members must play at least six club tournaments to be eligible to be the Club Champion. These six tournaments must be played prior to the Club Championship tournament. The club members will be broke into two flights. All members with a handicap from 0-20 will be in the first flight and all the members from 21-40 handicaps will be in the second flight. Where you start at the beginning of the year is where you will be at the end. You canÕt bounce between flights. Example: If you are a 20 handicap and in the first flight in February and in May youÕre a 21 handicap, youÕre still in the first flight. This works both ways for each of the flights. The six tournament rule applies only to an eleven tournament year. In a ten tournament year you will only need five tournaments to qualify.
b) The Club Championship Qualifier: All qualified members will play in there flights and an overall champion from each flight will be determined. The foursomes will be determined by handicaps. The first foursome will start with the member with the lowest handicap and it will just go up from there until all the foursomes are filled. All members that are playing in this tournament and didnÕt qualify for it will automatically start in the back no matter what your handicap is. At the end of this tournament a First & Second Flight Champion will be determined. In the event of a tie, all players who are tied will go to a playoff hole to determine the winner.
c) The Club/Ladder Championship: The winner of the first and second flight will be in the first group and will play a full 18 holes head to head to determine the overall club champion. In the event of a tie the two players will go to playoff holes until a overall winner can be decided.
d) The club Champion will get his name put on the perennial club championship trophy which he gets to keep for one year. After one year he will relinquish it to the new Club Champion and he in turn will receive another trophy that he can keep. The First & Second flight champions will also receive trophies saying that they were the champions of their flights.
3. The Overnighter Championship
a) a) The overnighter champion will be decided by adding together his two day net totals. If there is a tie the players will cut cards or role some dice to decide the winner. The overnighter champion will receive a perennial overnighter trophy which the player will keep for one year. After one year he will relinquish it to the new overnighter champion and he in turn will receive another trophy that he can keep.
